Design concept of metal stamping parts

Mar 12, 2026 Leave a message

Metal stamping processes can be broadly categorized into two types: separation processes and forming processes (further divided into bending, drawing, and forming). Based on the stamping temperature, there are cold stamping and hot stamping methods. This depends on the material's strength, plasticity, thickness, degree of deformation, and equipment capacity, while also considering the material's initial heat treatment state and final service conditions.

The designed metal stamping parts must meet the product's usage and technical performance requirements and facilitate assembly and repair.

The designed metal stamping parts must improve the utilization rate of metal materials, reduce the variety and specifications of materials, and minimize material consumption. Where permissible, inexpensive materials should be used, and parts should be stamped with minimal or no waste.

The designed metal stamping parts must have simple shapes and reasonable structures to simplify die structures and reduce the number of processes. That is, the entire part should be processed using the fewest and simplest stamping processes possible, reducing the need for other processing methods. The design should also facilitate stamping operations and enable mechanized and automated production to improve labor productivity.

The designed metal stamping parts, while ensuring normal use, should have as low a dimensional accuracy and surface roughness requirement as possible, and should facilitate product interchangeability, reduce scrap, and ensure stable product quality.

The designed metal stamping parts should facilitate processing using existing equipment, tooling, and processes as much as possible, and should contribute to extending the service life of the stamping dies.
