Classification and process of castings

Mar 15, 2026 Leave a message

Casting refers to the process of injecting molten metal or non-metallic materials into a mold or mold under the action of gravity, pressure, etc., and then cooling and solidifying to obtain parts or products of the required shape and size.

Classification of Castings

By molten state: Solidification casting, pressure casting.

By forming method: Sand casting, metal mold casting, precision casting, hydrostatic casting, etc.

By metal material: Cast iron, cast steel, cast aluminum, etc.

Casting Process

Mold preparation: Based on the product drawings, select appropriate materials to create a mold or model that perfectly matches the shape of the product.

Alloy melting: Melt the required metal or non-metal material to a certain temperature, maintaining the alloy in a liquid state for easy casting.

Pouring: Using gravity, pressure, etc., pour the molten alloy into the mold, where it cools and solidifies.

Demolding: Remove the solidified product from the mold or model.

Cleaning and finishing: For products with burrs, porosity, defects, etc., grinding, repair, and other cleaning and finishing processes are required.
